World AIDS Day: Shipping Containers as Medical Access Points

North Star Alliance is converting shipping containers into “Blue Box” clinics to help fill the current gap in medical access in Africa. Their Roadside Wellness Centres are focused on mobile workers and community members with limited access to medical services, specifically truck drivers, sex workers and people in communities located along transport corridors.

A Community-Driven Palliative Care Solution in India

In the Indian state of Kerala, Dr. Suresh Kumar has devised a community-led solution to the problem of inadequate palliative care. He founded the Neighbourhood Network for Palliative Care (NNPC), an organization with a goal of developing a cost-effective approach to making these services accessible to even the poorest members of society.
